Welcome to Exira - EHK

We welcome you to our school district and to our website. Our schools are located in Exira and Elk Horn, Iowa, small communities in Audubon and Shelby Counties. We enjoy a strong sense of community and benefit from a high level of parent and community involvement.

Our schools offer many amenities including a one-to-one laptop computer program, as well as strong academic and extra-curricular programs. Our two schools, preschool, kindergarten, and grades 4-8 in Exira, and preschool through 3rd grade and grades 9-12 in Elk-Horn, serve over three hundred students from preschool through 12th grade.

We know you’ll love our communities as much as we do. Take a moment to browse our website and find out what’s new in our school district. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. We’re always happy to serve you.

A Message from our Superintendent

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members:

I wanted to take a moment to update you on our end of the school year dates. As of Wednesday, March 8, this will be the schedule for the rest of the school year. This could change if we have additional snow/weather days, and in the past, I have been part of a snow day in May.

Thursday, April 6 and Thursday, May 4 will now be full school days. We will not have an early out for professional development. We will add this time for professional development to the end of the year for staff, so please plan accordingly that these two days will be full school days.

Make Up Days:

  • We will use Thursday, May 25 and Friday, May 26 as snow make-up days.
  • Friday, May 26 will be our last day of school for students.
  • Staff will have additional professional days after Memorial Day.

We currently have enough school hours to allow students to end the year on Friday, May 26. If we have additional days of no school, we will need to look into having school after Memorial Day.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Trevor Miller

Trevor Miller, Superintendent
