Welcome to Exira - EHK

We welcome you to our school district and to our website. Our schools are located in Exira and Elk Horn, Iowa, small communities in Audubon and Shelby Counties. We enjoy a strong sense of community and benefit from a high level of parent and community involvement.

Our schools offer many amenities including a one-to-one laptop computer program, as well as strong academic and extra-curricular programs. Our two schools, preschool, kindergarten, and grades 4-8 in Exira, and preschool through 3rd grade and grades 9-12 in Elk-Horn, serve over three hundred students from preschool through 12th grade.

We know you’ll love our communities as much as we do. Take a moment to browse our website and find out what’s new in our school district. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. We’re always happy to serve you.

A Message from our Superintendent

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members:

The Exira-EHK prom will be on Saturday April 22, 2017. This will be a fun-filled day for our students and guests. This letter is to provide information and details about prom and also expectations. The schedule is as follows:

  • 5:00 p.m. - Photos in Elk Horn.
  • 6:00 p.m. - Grand March in Elk Horn
  • 7:00 p.m. - Parade: Our students have been invited to tour Salem Homes in Elk Horn and Exira Care Center. This is a great opportunity for our students to spend time with our community members.
  • 8:00 p.m. - Dinner at the Exira Recreation Center.
  • 9:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m. - Dance at the Exira Prom Center
  • 12:30 a.m. - Start of After Prom at Middle School in Exira. Students must be there by 12:30 a.m. - We will send a separate letter home explaining expectations of after prom.

We want our students to be safe and have a fun and memorable prom. Prom is a great experience for all who elect to participate. As a team we want to help ensure our students' safety and enjoyment.

We want to remind our students that alcohol and/or drug use by students is illegal. If we suspect a student to be under the influence of drugs/alcohol, we will contact law enforcement and parents and/or guardians. The area law enforcement will be on patrol during the day of prom to help ensure our students’ safety. We are looking forward to our students having fun and creating memories at prom and would like your support to help ensure this will happen.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.

Sincerely,

Trevor Miller
