Welcome to Exira - EHK

We welcome you to our school district and to our website. Our schools are located in Exira and Elk Horn, Iowa, small communities in Audubon and Shelby Counties. We enjoy a strong sense of community and benefit from a high level of parent and community involvement.

Our schools offer many amenities including a one-to-one laptop computer program, as well as strong academic and extra-curricular programs. Our two schools, preschool, kindergarten, and grades 4-8 in Exira, and preschool through 3rd grade and grades 9-12 in Elk-Horn, serve over three hundred students from preschool through 12th grade.

We know you’ll love our communities as much as we do. Take a moment to browse our website and find out what’s new in our school district. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. We’re always happy to serve you.

A Message from our Superintendent

Dear Parents/Guardians,

On Wednesday, February 8, 2017, there will be a 2:30 p.m. early dismissal for the Exira-EHK Community School District. I have been working with Ms. Rutherford to allow us the opportunity to host the sub-district FFA contest in Elk Horn. The number of students attending this event and transportation situation could make it unsafe for our students and our guests; therefore, we see the need to have an early dismissal. Below, Ms. Rutherford provided a short summary of the event. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and I want to let everyone know in advance to be able to plan for day care and changes to their schedule.

From Ms. Rutherford: “On February 8, the Exira- Elk Horn-Kimballton FFA Chapter has the privilege to host this year’s sub-district FFA contest. Annually, FFA host leadership contests that prepare students for real-world experiences that will help members excel in their future endeavors. Contests include parliamentary procedures, public speaking, job interview, sales, and much more.

The day of the contest, we will be welcoming approximately 200 FFA members from twelve area schools to participate in a total of thirteen contests. There will be thirty-two community judges, fifteen classrooms used, and extra volunteers, including the Exira-EHK Alumni FFA Chapter to help things run smoothly.”

Hosting this contest is a great opportunity for our district to showcase our agriculture program and Spartan Pride! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Trevor Miller
