While attending Parent Teacher Conferences Thursday Night, check out these opportunities available in the Elk Horn Cafeteria! DMACC and IWCC will have representatives presenting mini sessions about their programs and able to meet 1 on 1 to answer any question or provide future guidance. DMACC will also be explaining the opportunities offered for the Career Academy in Templeton starting in the Fall. There will also be an informational meeting about the Washington D.C Trip for grades 9, 10 , and 11. #EEHKSpartanPride

Today the Spartan Speech team had an early morning traveling to ADM High School for state speech contest! With our first contestant being at 8AM and our last being around 4:15 PM, it was truly a busy day! With that being said, students really learned a lot from their this experience! Spartan Speech students are up and coming for sure! This program is going to continue to grow! Here is a list of the events and their rankings from today! Students receiving a division 1 rating will now wait for news about if they have received the prestigious honor of an All-State Nomination. Great job Spartan Speech! All students should be proud of their ratings and such! Being able to see just how far these students came this season is a great thing for sure! Mr. Parmley is proud of your work today! Keep encouraging students to try speech in the future! It is such an amazing life skill and great character builder! #EEHKSpartanPride

Elementary Parent-Teacher Conferences will be done in person or virtually through Google Meet Dates: Tuesday, March 15, and Thursday, March 17 Times: 4:30-7:30 PM You can sign up for the night and time that works for you. Your child(ren)'s name will appear where you signed up last fall, but you can update this as needed. Please click on the Elementary Parent-Teacher Conference Schedule link below to fill in the Google sheet for conferences. You can also access this link through the Elementary News page of our website. Find the column for your child's teacher and put his/her name in the time slot you wish to meet with the teacher. If you would like for this to be virtual please put a "V" behind their name, and if you would like for it to be a phone call please put a "P" behind their name to indicate so. The district’s elementary building (Grades K-5) is located in Exira and MS/HS building (Grades 6-12) is located in Elk Horn. The Elk Horn community is currently starting an onsite community daycare serving all aged kids which will be running by the Fall of 2022 and a convenient resource for staff members. Our districts’ communities are filled with community events and opportunities to get involved such as the 4th of July Parade, Fall Festival, Julefest, and Tivoli Fest.

8th grade math students worked on an activity entitled 31-derful. They were able to select any cards from a standard deck to create a 5x5 grid. The catch was that each row and each column had to equal 31. 2-9 were worth the number on the card; 10, jack, queen, king were worth 10; and the aces were worth 11. One group managed to complete the activity in under 20 minutes and two other groups were very close. Can you solve the puzzle?
